In 1921 Bernard-Albin Gras designed a series of lamps for use in industrial environments and office. The gras lamp as it was subsequently called was astounding in its simple, robust and yet very ergonomic design. There are neither screws nor welded joints in the basic form. This lamp has been used buy a lot of famous architects over time such as Le-Corbusier in many of his interior designs and Pierre Jeanneret, Eileen Gray and Robert Mallet-Stevens and also used in houses in America alongside furniture designed by Mies Van der Rohe, Marcel Bruer etc. These lamps have a huge design pedigree and have been used extensively in offices and manufacturing environments as well as in residential.
Massproductions is a Stockholm based furniture company founded by London born Chris Martin and Swede Magnus Elebäck. The companies first collection was launched in early 2009 and has until now only been available in Sweden through selected stores in Stockholm and in Italy. Autoban is an Istanbul-based architecture, interior design and product design studio, founded by Seyhan Özdemir (architect) and Sefer Çaglar (interior architect) in the historic and bohemian district of Galata in 2003. Autoban designs reflect a Scandinavian influence through their use of natural materials, traditional craft and moderns forms. However, their influences come from all over the world, with their main inspiration stemming from everyday objects and rituals and the rich diversity of Istanbul.
