INNATE DINING TABLE - JON GOULDER
A table that offers everything a dining table is supposed to… says its designer-maker. It is solid, generous, with a quiet presence; and it speaks to an innately Australian sensibility.
The dining table is a new addition to this distinctive collection of Australian-made furniture by lauded Adelaide-based designer Jon Goulder. Characterised by a precise, minimalist aesthetic, it embodies a sense of refinement with its lean, paired-back form and the materials used. Its clear-cut geometric design incorporates corresponding negative / positive details, and features a top rendered in solid timber, in Oak, Blackwood or Walnut, that is paired with a base in blackened steel - referred to as "Night" - or patinated brass - called "Day".
In fact, the design aesthetic of the entire collection is informed by the shared ethos of both the designer and his collaborator, Fiona Lyda of renowned retailer Spence & Lyda, to allow the materials to speak, usually in their most natural state. The resulting pieces possess an inherent design integrity and language, underpinned by honest construction.
The Innate collection comprises Coffee and Side Tables - with tops in various types of stone or timber, and a Console, followed by a Bedside Table, Desk and this Dining Table.
Standard: L 2600 x W 1000 x H 750 mm
Note: the table is also available to order in custom sizing (pricing subject to quote).
MATERIALS / FINISHES
Top available in:
- Solid Tasmanian Oak, natural finish
- Solid Tasmanian Blackwood, natural or pickled finish*
- Solid American Oak, natural finish
- Solid American Walnut, natural finish
- Steel with black powder-coating ("Night")
- Electroplated Brass with a patinated 'bronze' finish ("Day")
*Note: producing this unusual ‘pickled’ finish involves a process of steeping steel wool in vinegar and then rubbing the surface of the piece with it; the result being that each timber will react differently, typically producing a contrasting effect of deep black/charcoal shades interspersed with smoky taupes.
